Monster of the Week: Sawrunner

Origin: Cry of Fear

Appearance: This creature is a crazy close-to-be-immortal freak. He wears 3 laughing masks, one at each side of the face. The skin behind looks damaged or burned. The most creepy feature of this creature is his constant laughing, while running behind you with a chainsaw. If he will catch the player, it is instant death. The player will face the Sawrunner multiple time during the game and, even if technically it is possible to kill him, the best idea is to run away without turn. During one of the most anxious fuel moment of the game, the player is force to find a doorknob in a dark forest, with the Sawrunner behind him.

Symbolism: The Sawrunner wears exactly the same clothes of the main protagonist Simon, just completely full of blood. All the game is based on the physical manifestation of the sadness and the grudge of Simon after a physical impairment and the Sawrunner is the purest essence of these feelings. He is dressed like Simon because he is Simon. The laughing masks are what Simon wants to show to people, a fake happiness, that cover a brutal truth. Simon, as the Sawrunner, wants just to kill and destroy everybody, without discrimination (the Sawrunner can even kill other monsters not only the player). The Sawrunner is the pure manifestation of a desire for destruction hiding behind the happy mask of Simon, that wants to cripple everybody, as the Sawrunner is doing with the chainsaw.
